Seo in 2020: It Hasn’t Changed (Much)

SEO in 2020 both has and hasn't changed let me explain in 2019 there were three core algorithm updates one in March another in June in the final one in September and do you know what happened in each one of these updates probably not but I can guarantee you that 99.99% of people watching this video don't either and it's not because the updates weren't important it's because they didn't affect the fundamental principles of SEO success so rather than searching for the latest eat hack or trying to optimize for a bird you should focus on the three most important things that will determine the fate of your rankings and that's what we're covering in this video today stay tuned Google's algorithm is always changing but the one thing that hasn't changed is what the algorithm is trying to do Google's job is to provide the best search results for any given query they need to find pages and rank the ones that best match and serve the users intent and to figure this out they use hundreds of different ranking factors so there's really no point in chasing algorithms instead our job as content creators and marketers is to show search engines that are pages deserve to rank and the three things that will determine whether you rank or not our content backlinks and indexation let's go through each one of these first and arguably the most important thing in SEO is content no matter how prolific your writing skills are you won't rank unless you've gotten your content right and by right there are a few major things to consider first is search intent search intent means the reason behind the search is query to figure this out just do a search in Google for your target keyword and look through the titles of the top ranking pages from these you should be able to figure out the three C's of search intent the first see is content type content type can usually be categorized into blog posts products category and landing pages the second C is content format and this applies more to blog posts and landing pages a few common blog formats you'll see are how to's step-by-step tutorials lists pose opinion editorials for a landing page that might be something like a tool or calculator in the third see is content angle which often depicts the benefit it's basically your hook as to why someone should click through to your page search intent today is more important than ever and if you want to rank high you'll want to match the type format and angle of other top pages second make sure you've covered the topic info this doesn't mean that you have to give every last detail on the topic for example if you're writing about a topic like the best headphones you don't have to mention every single manufacturer and/or model instead look at what the top ranking pages are talking about so for best headphones you'll see that TechRadar has organized their posts by best type headphones like best in your headphones best on ear headphones and so on see the article from Digital Trends and they follow the same or at least very similar format you can also use hf s-- content gap tool to see common keyword rankings among the top three to five pages just enter the top ranking URLs here which I've already done and run the search and now that we can see keywords that the top pages rank for we can extract subtopics and create a thorough page to maximize search traffic so I might want to talk about budget headphones as well as the best portable headphones and categorize my post that way finally make sure you get the on-page stuff down pet things like titles URL slugs and heading tags are basic things in on-page SEO but they're important rather than going into the details I recommend watching our full on-page SEO checklist tutorial which will walk you through all of the important steps the second thing is to continue focusing on building backlinks links have been and still are one of the strongest ranking signals and if you want to rank for anything remotely competitive you'll need to build them now while you might be searching for new and revolutionary link building tactics in 2020 my recommendation is to stop things like broken link building the skyscraper technique and guest posting all work really well what doesn't work is when you copy other people's templates Batum by doing that you're essentially putting yourself in a box with hundreds of other people setting the exact same email which probably won't yield the best results try and provide value to the person who's receiving the email to increase your chances of getting links we have an awesome playlist on various link building strategies so if you're relatively new to link building or struggling to build quality backlinks I highly recommend watching those videos choosing a strategy for your pages and executing alright the final piece to ranking is indexation search engines crawl parse and store information in a database called a search index and users are then able to access this information using Google search so if your pages aren't indexed then it's impossible to get your site or pages discovered in search to check if your site is indexed go to the coverage report in Google search console and you should be able to see which pages Google is indexed also if you haven't submitted a sitemap then you can do that here too now if you don't have search console setup go to Google and search for site colon your domain hopefully you'll see most of your pages there if you're seeing zero results it means your site isn't indexed if this is you there are three things you should look for first make sure you have an unintentionally no index all of your pages this often happens with redesigns where developers will no index an entire site during development and forget to switch it back when migrating just open the source code on your home page and search for no index if you see it in your meta robots tag then you'll want to fix that second make sure you're not blocking Googlebot or all user agents in your robots.txt file just go to your domain comm slash robots.txt and if you see something like this it means you're blocking all BOTS from calling any page on your website and third check search console for a manual action you can do that by clicking on manual actions in the sidebar fix whatever it is and submit a reconsideration request now if you have specific pages that aren't being indexed then you likely have more of a technical SEO issue first do the same checks that I mentioned like making sure you didn't know index the page another reason can be if you're automatically generating millions of indexable pages these are most likely going to be low quality and will affect your crawl budget some examples are forum profiles or faceted navigation issues on e-commerce pages there are literally an endless number of things to check for if your pages aren't being indexed but these are the most common bottom line if your pages aren't in Google's index your SEO future in 2020 or even 2222 won't be very promising now while things like Bert or using Python to automate SEO tasks might seem exciting prioritize and don't lose focus on these three things that are actually going to get your pages ranking high think about it like this you don't need to know how running shoes are made in order to become a better sprinter you need to strengthen your core muscle groups practice the fundamentals like starting accelerating and finishing most importantly you need to get out there and compete with others in the same way SEO is all about fundamentals focus on the things that matter most rather than chasing shiny tactics from headlines claiming SEO has completely changed now I'd love to hear from you do you think that SEO will be more or less the same in 2020 versus last year let me know in the comments and if you enjoyed this video make sure to like share and subscribe for more actionable SEO tutorials How to Use Video Marketing to Grow Your Business

in 2017 63% of businesses were using video as a marketing tool in 2018 that number rose to 81% and in 2019 87% this is part of the reason why we jumped on the bandwagon in 2018 and started publishing videos consistently and it's led to over a hundred thousand YouTube subscribers millions of views and thousands of new paying customers so today I'm gonna show you how to use video marketing to grow your business even if you're in a so-called boring industry like SEO stay tuned video marketing is powerful no doubt and a lot of it has to do with accessibility we watch videos on our computers mobile devices and TVs in fact go to a metropolitan area like New York Las Vegas Hong Kong or wherever and you'll likely see videos playing on Billboard's and the numbers speak for themselves in a 2018 study it was reported that 85% of US Internet users watched online video content every month so with such high demand for video content how do we use it as business owners and marketers to actually drive revenue to answer that let's first define video marketing video marketing is using videos to promote and educate your target audience it's also used to increase brand awareness and social engagement allowing you to reach new and bigger audiences now video marketing doesn't mean you have to create shows or be a personality that people fall head-over-heels for a report from HubSpot research shows that 54% of consumers want to see videos from brands which was higher than any other content type video is powerful for a few reasons first it allows you to demonstrate concepts faster and more clearly for example as you're watching this video you're using your sense of hearing and your sense of sight together creating a rich learning experience whereas text-based content limits you to just cite for example if you wanted to learn how to do the reverse overlap putting grip you might read this blog post there's an image showing the grip and it says apply your left hand to the putter grip and then just beneath rest your hand around the putter grip linked both your hands by lifting the index finger of your left hand and wrapping it over the fingers of your right hand good luck doing that and getting it right but watch this video for 30 seconds and you'll master the technique in no time second video allows you to create a personal connection with viewers which shouldn't be under mine for example I was creating videos for HFC YouTube channel for around 6 months and then went to visit head office in Singapore for the first time and when I walked into the office the first thing someone said to me was I feel like I already know you a few of the other people around us laughed and agreed now creating that effect through a blog post is much more challenging third you can reach audiences in places like YouTube where video is the only way to play the game now as powerful as video can be you'll need to create them so they a resonate with your target audience and be ideally feature your products and services so unless you're making money through ad revenues views alone won't pay the bills so let's go through four steps to create great video marketing campaigns step one is to define your audience and to do that start by thinking of who your product or service is serve knowing who your audience is in terms of gender age profession interests or whatever information you can dig up can help you shape the format and content of your videos so if you have an existing list of customers start there define who they are what kind of problems they face how they found you and why they chose you you can do simple customer surveys or one-to-one calls and ask them those specific questions get to know their business and the problems they face if you don't have any customers yet you can use audience research tools like Facebook audience insights you'll need a Facebook Ads account for this but this tool is completely free just fill out the information in the sidebar of who you think your audience is for example let's say I'm starting a new tabletop games reviews channel I'll set the country to United States assuming that's my target audience and I'll set the interests to tabletop games and now you can see some insightful things like the majority of people being between 25 to 44 and if we go to the page likes tab you'll see some interest Electronics collectables and video games below that are specific pages they like which can give you a good place to start for reviews to create the next step is to define a primary objective and there are three main categories for objectives these are brand awareness education and entertainment aka be brand awareness videos are usually short and the purpose is to just make people aware that you exist think of commercials you see on TV it can be anything from McDonald's promoting to dollar Big Mac week or something like slacks animals commercial where they show a team using their software to create a flying umbrella the main point is that the viewer should know the brand name and have an idea of what they provide educational videos are like the ones we create on YouTube most of our videos are tutorials on SEO and marketing strategies and as a software company we show how our tools make these processes easier and more effective and entertainment is self-explanatory think of shows or series they're often created as stories for example Red Bull does a really good job of this they create series and videos around extreme sports which draws in their target customers now just because you want to entertain it doesn't mean you can't educate or vice-versa but in my opinion you should choose a primary objective based on what you want to achieve after you've defined your objective it's time to create the content well I can't tell you exactly what to create or how to create it we can talk about a few subcategories under the umbrella of video creation so let's talk about optimal lengths formats breaking through common struggles and how you'll get these videos in front of the right people so let's talk about how long your video should be first content length will usually be determined by your primary objective for example a brand awareness campaign can be as short as 15 seconds and usually won't exceed a couple of minutes again think of commercials are those ads that play before you watch certain YouTube videos educational content will be anywhere from 5 to 120 minutes our videos are usually 7 to 20 minutes while something like a webinar can easily go over an hour as for entertainment this will also vary in duration I like to think of these kinds of videos as shows this can range from 10 to 180 minutes depending on the format speaking of format this is where you'll see quite a bit of variance as it depends on your audience objective industry and the message you want to get across meaning there are no set rules but there is one format that I've seen work for all audiences all objectives and all industries and it looks something like this problem teaser and solution or story whether it's a commercial tutorial or blockbuster film there's always a problem problems make content interesting and it's something I recommend leaving with next is the teaser the point of this is to show that there's solution to the problem without giving it away finally is story or solution and this will often depend on your objective again for example educational videos will usually have a clear-cut solution whereas videos that go the entertainment route will likely have stories that lead to the solution or conclusion let's go through some examples in the 2019 Superbowl Bud Light aired this famous commercial the problem starts when a giant barrel of corn syrup is delivered to their factory but since Bud Light doesn't use corn syrup in their beer they tease the answer that it must be one of their competitors shipments like Miller Lite the story goes on to show the journey of delivering corn syrup to the competitor once they arrived at the castle Miller Lite says they already receive their corn stone and suggest to deliver the barrel to another competitor Coors Light Bud Light gang heads over to the Coors castle and they gladly accept the corn syrup as for educational videos it's easiest if I use our tutorials as an example with this video I started off by sharing how important video marketing is I then go on to tease the solution by showing how we've used video to get over a hundred thousand subscribers millions of views and thousands of new paying customers right now we're in the solution stage where I'm sharing what we've done in a step-by-step way to use video marketing for your company finally is the entertainment route just think of your favorite sitcom there's always a problem they often tease what could be if the problem were solved it leads into the story which is the bulk of the show and ends with some kind of solution or conclusion now I'm not saying that this formula is what all successful videos follow but if you're struggling to find your own unique format try it because it works alright let's talk about some very real struggles that come with the territory of being a video creator even though some of these roadblocks might seem like huge problems in the moment I promise that you can overcome them so let's break down the problems and solutions struggle number one I'm not good in front of the camera this was and still is one of my greatest struggles I don't feel natural standing here talking to a lens knowing that thousands of people are gonna watch it but the beauty of video is in editing as you've seen from this video as well as others we use b-roll like screencasts animations and text screens to take the attention off me while creating better educational material another way to combat the jitters is to use a teleprompter this is what I use because it helps me deliver as much information as possible in a short period of time rather than going off on tangents serval number two I don't have equipment or the budget to buy it listen video production quality is overrated yeah we spend a lot of time trying to produce quality stuff but at the same time it's not a necessity to create impactful videos you probably have a camera in your pocket everywhere you go it's called a smartphone in fact when Tim started HFC youtube channel in 2015 he created all his tutorials on a GoPro which is far from Hollywood equipment but those videos took our channel from zero to twenty six hundred subscribers in five months no fancy cameras microphones or backdrops this brings us to the last common struggle struggle number three is that English is not my first language tim is originally from Ukraine and if you've watched any of his videos you might have noticed that English isn't his first language being a child of immigrant parents myself I know there are personal struggles in terms of how you think others might perceive you so I thought it'd be best to have Tim share his experiences on how he was able to power through and overcome this challenge hey guys so Sam asked me to share my experience of creating video content while not being a native your speaker should I also say not being even a fluent English speaker so yeah I did have my hesitations to start recording videos or audio content because of my strong Ukrainian accent so much so that I even recorded a video question to Gary Vee show asking him if my heavy accent would be a problem and if it would make people jump to conclusions and not listening to my content well what Gary said was that it is true that some people would hate my accent and choose not to watch my content because of it but on the other hand there are tons and tons of smart intelligent people all around the globe for who English is not their first language so my accent is absolutely of no problem for them as long as the content is good so here's my advice for you if you want to start creating video content but you have an accent don't bother about it just start doing it if your content is good you'll find your audience and there will be many people who will appreciate what you're doing despite your accent and one last thing please tell them that this t-shirt looks much better on me than on him type it in the comments please thanks the final part of this video marketing puzzle is likely the most important and that's how you're going to get views to your videos and I'm not gonna talk about things like TV but I will focus on three online marketing strategies that I've used to get more views first is through organic reach and this means ranking your videos on YouTube and Google as well as being recommended through other YouTube features like suggested views and browse features to prove that we've done this here's a graph of our YouTube organic search traffic we've invested a lot of effort into YouTube SEO which has given us free and consistent growth over time and here's the fruit of our labor from our video SEO efforts this graph shows free and consistent views that we get from Google search YouTube SEO works particularly well if your main objective is education naturally people are and will always be searching for helpful tutorials on various topics rather than going deep into how to do YouTube SEO we have an actionable tutorial on how you can rank your videos on YouTube which I'll link up in the description another way to get views is to embed videos on your blog or landing pages if you have a website where you're already getting consistent traffic it's worth embedding your videos in relevant places this is something we do regularly a day trips and it's probably one of the lowest-hanging tactics you can do from what I've seen embedding our videos on relevant posts have helped us rank these videos in Google's video carousels suggest eclipse and video Search tab next is through other social media platforms if you already have a following on Facebook Twitter or LinkedIn I'm sure you're already posting videos there now if your goal is simply to get people to consume your content you can try uploading the entire video to the social platform and see how they perform but if your goal is to get people to your youtube channel then I recommend creating short teaser clips and uploading them to the social platform and within the description add a link to your YouTube video every industry is different and every audience is different to try both of these tactics and don't be afraid to throw a bit of money into social ads a little can go a long way speaking of ads that's the final strategy I recommend with video ads I've only tried them on Facebook in YouTube and from what I've seen Facebook tends to work well for brand awareness and lead generation videos lead generation videos are ones where you ask people to opt in for a webinar or something else that's free from there you nurture the lead and then try to sell your product Facebook has arguably the best audience targeting features so if you know your audience really well it can help you get engaged views fast as for YouTube we regularly use discovery ads for full-length tutorials these are ads that appear at the top of YouTube search results as well as in the suggested sidebar you can target audiences or topics much like Facebook's interest targeting and layer in demographic profiles you can also do keyword targeting where your ads will appear when a user searches for specific words or phrases since our videos are mostly creative to solve specific problems I found QR targeting to work really well to get engaged views meaning long ones finally our in-stream ads which are those video ads that play before a video these work well if brand awareness is your objective it's important to take note of the format of these ads for example people aren't able to skip the first five seconds of the video so two things you'll want to do in the first five seconds are a grab their attention enough so they'll continue to watch and be make the focus on your brand the second thing to note is that YouTube only considers it a view if the user watches at least 30 seconds of your ad or the full video if it's shorter than 30 seconds this means if your video is 31 seconds and someone watches 29 seconds of that video you won't be charged so take that into account - at the end of the day successful advertising will come down to your targeting the quality of the video and how relevant it is to your business and audience I highly recommend trying out video ads even if you spend just $10 per day you can get hundreds of views so by now I'm hoping you feel an urgency to start marketing with video it's insanely powerful in the fact that you're still here is a testament to its effectiveness now if you enjoyed this video make sure to like share and subscribe How To Stop Caring What People Think Of You

how to make your resolution stick this new year the habit of making resolutions at the beginning of every new year was started by the babylonians who would make promises to their gods at the beginning of the year if 102 neighbors some money or ad borrowed a family members some jewelry but was yet to return it they would make the resolve to pay the debts the gods would then bless them if they kept their promises and punished them if they did not millennia later debts and money or objects don't worry human beings as much our most common New Year's resolutions are to do with losing weight quitting smoking and saving money however a majority of us don't keep these promises we make to ourselves research shows that only about 8% of Americans stick to their resolutions some of the goals that you pinned down and aspire to achieve are great for you they may make you rich you're famous improve your relationships and help you see the world but more often than not you don't stick with them why is that and how can you power through the ones that you make at this start of a new decade before we continue with this video I'd like to say thank you so much to Babel for sponsoring this video the size of the goals you set is a big determinant of whether you achieve it or not you've heard it said before dream big and aim for the stars you might just land on the moon if you're lucky and in line with such proclamations we ain't big for example this year you resolve to read a book a week even though for the last six years you've only read five books or maybe this year you could set learning a new language as a potential new goal let's talk about this for a moment let's say this year you plan on finally visiting that exotic country you've always wanted to visit maybe this place could be Paris Rome Barcelona or maybe Moscow wouldn't it be nice if you could speak the indigenous language of these places learning a new language is a tedious affair one which usually requires the years of study and practice making it difficult to quickly get into conversations most people end up finding themselves a little lost in translation fortunately there's an app that can help you using a new language in real-life situations after only five hours of practice this app is called Babel is the number-one language learning app in the world currently offering 14 different languages to learn the belief that language learning should start at real life conversations is what makes Babel stand out amongst its competitors its lessons will teach you vocabulary and grammar skills that you can actually use in practical situations asking for directions ordering at a restaurant or speaking to locals babbles bite-sized lessons 10 to 15 minutes enable you to easily fit language learning into your schedule while many language learning programs have you review the content periodically babble adapts to your strengths and areas you need to improve by providing a review manager that make sure you really retain what you learn Babel offers a mix of teaching strategies to help address your individual learning type when you learn with Babel you can choose from a wide range of topics like business food travel and more they're useful in real-life situations start learning a new language today with Babel sign up for a three-month subscription and get three additional months for free link in the description audacious goals are good and can be a source of inspiration for you because of the appeal of the end goal however you should not forget that a big goal requires a big step for it to be achieved for you to lose 20 pounds you should pay the price equivalent to the 20 pounds be it through dieting or some form of exercising when the big dream you have is not broken down into small achievable steps you become overwhelmed this is because it is all reduced to a single step that you have to take when your brain is not entirely cool with it's the equivalent of tasking a two-year-old with carrying a 50 kilogram bag of cement how loud do you think they'll cry this same task can be completed or rather there is the possibility of completion if a 15 year old was given the job their size relative to the task it's not so insane ask yourself what's the smallest step that you can take to reach your end goal make it easy for you to get and stay on track if the goal is a two hour half marathon start with a 10 minute daily walk once you take that small step and complete it you feel good this positive feedback goes back into encouraging you to take another step you make a few steps every day in your thousand mile journey you should also know that having too many resolutions may hinder your ability to stick to them for example you may be concerned about your weight your studies your smoking habit and your money habits all at the same time bold resolutions that are clearly defined and broken down to easy steps may work but the truth is you'll face problems and fails several times what happens when you're experiencing difficulties sticking to all four of your major resolutions so just pick one to begin with you could start by easing yourself into a habit of healthy eating for a period when you've solidified this new habit start something else taking yourself slow like this helps you enjoy the process and increase your motivation because after you deal with an issue as big as your smoking studying for a few hours for five days a week your other goal will not be so intimidating after settling on a resolution and figuring out the smallest steps you can take to achieve it the next step is to plan for achieving it planning in this case involves setting time in your schedule and availing the resources that are needed for you to go to the gym every day you need a membership at your closest one exercise gear like yoga pants and shoes and time to work out resources are an especially important part of sticking to your resolutions if you go to the gym and get blisters because of inappropriate shoes you'll be less likely to be encouraged to do it again this will be the excuse that you rely on search the internet among other people who have lost as much weight as you wish to do or achieve the same thing you're setting out to what did they do what made the process easier when the theory all checks out it's time to work on your resolution set a date on which you'll start and this doesn't necessarily have to be at the very start of the year it also doesn't have to be on a Monday or when you meet the love of your life find a day that works for you or work to achieve the mental state that will leverage most of your motivation for sure' you could start your book a week goal on the first day of January read 50 pages on your first go and commit to doing this every day of that first week until you finish the 374 page book but if you attended a crazy party on New Year's Eve the kind that takes a whole week to recuperate from what good does the date you set do for you what happens to your motivation when you don't start on this first week as you have solidly planned and this brings us to a vital part of sticking to your New Year's resolutions the ability to forgive yourself when you make mistakes problems are bound to come up and before you start working on your resolution you should plan for how to deal with the ones that will most likely happen however you cannot predict every problem it will feel bad when you fail and you may become doubtful of your ability to pull off what you believe to be possible being down sometimes is part of life and it might seem like everyone else but you is achieving what they set they aren't your problem you are learn when you're down and get up pick the lesson make adjustments and try again it may be unfortunate that you got blisters on the first day of your healthy habit but what does it teach you well that vans are great for street wear but not so much on the track tracking your progress especially the really small achievements may be the hack to your motivation they show you where you were and where you're heading and to record progress you may have to change the metric you use in two weeks you may be unable to figure out the number of pounds you've lost after doing eight workout sessions that are thirty minutes long and if you're looking at just the weight scale it may seem like you aren't making progress but in this time you can observe that as you climb the stairs to your apartment you don't heave on the landing of the second floor like before it now takes three flights to tire you it's these small achievements that will fuel your motivation looking at your progress also shows you where you plateau off and why this may be the case you can then course correct and don't forget doing something small is always better than doing nothing at all sure there are stars which if they align would mean a perfect situation for you the probability of them aligning is low though and so do you sit around and gamble no you should do something because taking a daily 10 minute long to lose 20 pounds is better than pining over the idea that if there was a gym close to you you would be putting in at least 45 minutes of work out every day in a nutshell for you to stick to your resolutions focus on one goal first this goal should be clearly defined and broken down to the smallest step that can be taken to achieve it schedule it in your routine and avail yourself of all the resources that you will need to start working on it problems are bound to come and you will experience failure intermittently if you can anticipate the former make adjustments to deal with them and when you fall pull yourself back up dust off look for the lesson and start right up what are your new year's resolutions talk to us in the comments section below thank you guys so much for watching and please check out babel link in the description

be achieved for you to lose 20 pounds you should pay the price equivalent to the 20 pounds be it through dieting or some form of exercising when the big dream you have is not broken down into small achievable steps you become overwhelmed this is because it is all reduced to a single step that you have to take when your brain is not entirely cool with it's the equivalent of tasking a two-year-old with carrying a 50 kilogram bag of cement how loud do you think they'll cry this same task can be completed or rather there is the possibility of completion if a 15 year old was given the job their size relative to the task it's not so insane ask yourself what's the smallest step that you can take to reach your end goal make it easy for you to get and stay on track if the goal is a two hour half marathon start with a 10 minute daily walk once you take that small step and complete it you feel good this positive feedback goes back into encouraging you to take another step you make a few steps every day in your thousand mile journey you should also know that having too many resolutions may hinder your ability to stick to them for example you may be concerned about your weight your studies your smoking habit and your money habits all at the same time bold resolutions that are clearly defined and broken down to easy steps may work but the truth is you'll face problems and fails several times what happens when you're experiencing difficulties sticking to all four of your major resolutions so just pick one to begin with you could start by easing yourself into a habit of healthy eating for a period when you've solidified this new habit start something else taking yourself slow like this helps you enjoy the process and increase your motivation because after you deal with an issue as big as your smoking studying for a few hours for five days a week your other goal will not be so intimidating after settling on a resolution and figuring out the smallest steps you can take to achieve it the next step is to plan for achieving it planning in this case involves setting time in your schedule and availing the resources that are needed for you to go to the gym every day you need a membership at your closest one exercise gear like yoga pants and shoes and time to work out resources are an especially important part of sticking to your resolutions if you go to the gym and get blisters because of inappropriate shoes you'll be less likely to be encouraged to do it again this will be the excuse that you rely on search the internet among other people who have lost as much weight as you wish to do or achieve the same thing you're setting out to what did they do what made the process easier when the theory all checks out it's time to work on your resolution set a date on which you'll start and this doesn't necessarily have to be at the very start of the year it also doesn't have to be on a Monday or when you meet the love of your life find a day that works for you or work to achieve the mental state that will leverage most of your motivation for sure' you could start your book a week goal on the first day of January read 50 pages on your first go and commit to doing this every day of that first week until you finish the 374 page book but if you attended a crazy party on New Year's Eve the kind that takes a whole week to recuperate from what good does the date you set do for you what happens to your motivation when you don't start on this first week as you have solidly planned and this brings us to a vital part of sticking to your New Year's resolutions the ability to forgive yourself when you make mistakes problems are bound to come up and before you start working on your resolution you should plan for how to deal with the ones that will most likely happen however you cannot predict every problem it will feel bad when you fail and you may become doubtful of your ability to pull off what you believe to be possible being down sometimes is part of life and it might seem like everyone else but you is achieving what they set they aren't your problem you are learn when you're down and get up pick the lesson make adjustments and try again it may be unfortunate that you got blisters on the first day of your healthy habit but what does it teach you well that vans are great for street wear but not so much on the track tracking your progress especially the really small achievements may be the hack to your motivation they show you where you were and where you're heading and to record progress you may have to change the metric you use in two weeks you may be unable to figure out the number of pounds you've lost after doing eight workout sessions that are thirty minutes long and if you're looking at just the weight scale it may seem like you aren't making progress but in this time you can observe that as you climb the stairs to your apartment you don't heave on the landing of the second floor like before it now takes three flights to tire you it's these small achievements that will fuel your motivation looking at your progress also shows you where you plateau off and why this may be the case you can then course correct and don't forget doing something small is always better than doing nothing at all sure there are stars which if they align would mean a perfect situation for you the probability of them aligning is low though and so do you sit around and gamble no you should do something because taking a daily 10 minute long to lose 20 pounds is better than pining over the idea that if there was a gym close to you you would be putting in at least 45 minutes of work out every day in a nutshell for you to stick to your resolutions focus on one goal first this goal should be clearly defined and broken down to the smallest step that can be taken to achieve it schedule it in your routine and avail yourself of all the resources that you will need to start working on it problems are bound to come and you will experience failure intermittently if you can anticipate the former make adjustments to deal with them and when you fall pull yourself back up dust off look for the lesson and start right up what are your new year's resolutions talk to us in the comments section below thank you guys so much for watching and please check out babel link in the description

10 Steps To Financial Freedom - How To Be Good With Money

if you could design your life and plan everything in it what would it look like some people would love to travel all over the world some people would love to own and live in their dream houses and others may want to be able to pursue their dreams or maybe even have that dream wedding they've always wanted and so much more the list is endless while they do say money won't bring you happiness it sure does play a big role almost everything you choose to do requires you to part with some box I'm not trying to say money is everything but it really is important and like Kanye West puts it money isn't everything but not having it is but we're not here to give you a second hand advice from rappers today we share with you 10 steps you can take to achieve complete financial freedom imagine a life where you don't have to worry about money the decisions you make won't be based on what you have in the bank account you won't take that job you don't like because it pays off better you won't have to check the price tags on organic foods just to confirm you can afford them you can opt to take uber black whenever you wish - sounds like a wonderful life right well it's quite possible to get there but you have to understand you won't reach there overnight just like everything else in order to see results you will need to put in the effort be really disciplined and follow the steps we're about to share take some notes this just might change your life before we start hit that subscribe button in the Bell notification now let's begin number one set life goals the very first step is to create a list of life goals don't just scribble down a couple of things you want to achieve but take some time to really soul search and identify what you really want out of life once done with the list attach timelines to them and if possible a cost be very specific accurate and realistic when doing this it's okay to be overly ambitious but we both know it's not possible to buy a million dollar home within six months well unless you win the lottery and with the one out of a hundred thousand chance this is almost impossible stick to what's possible and achievable we recommend putting this list somewhere where you'll see it every day like on your fridge for instance number two create a budget it's important to know exactly what you consume everyday and how much it costs this is the only way to truly understand where your money goes writing a household budget and sticking to it relentlessly will end up saving you a lot of money it's a great routine that reinforces your goals and bolsters the temptation to splurge on unnecessary things trust me number three emergency fund start by creating an emergency fund the ultimate rule of an emergency fund is saving up six months in recurrent expenses and stashing it somewhere just in case anything out of the ordinary happens by out of the ordinary we don't mean vacations that fancy watch you've always wanted or any miscellaneous purchase that money should only be used for actual needs which would otherwise deter or slow down your life these include emergencies such as your car breaking down water heater system failing or unexpected hospital bills only the most important needs why create an emergency fund everything that can go wrong will at some point go wrong Murphy's Law so instead of borrowing money or using your credit card which will make you get further into debt use your save funds this is the first step anyone who wants to achieve financial freedom should take number four plan to pay off debt about 80% of Americans are in debt and this number is steadily increasing at an alarming rate debt isn't entirely bad in fact it has its benefits for one you can build up a good credit score by borrowing money and returning it in time what's wrong with debt is the fact that people overuse it 65 percent of Americans have maxed out their credit cards at one point in their lives there are two rules that should be abided by when it comes to debt only borrow money for purchases that will appreciate for example a house a piece of land and any other asset that fits into that criteria the other rule is to only borrow money when you have a plan to pay it back as businesses do in short what we're trying to say is don't use your credit card to purchase that Birkin bag you've just seen on a window while debt may be good in some cases it can dent your account tremendously when you're paying off a couple of hundreds of dollars a month for car loans student loans and any other loans this restricts your ability to save money or even invest therefore it's imperative to create a plan to clear off your debt and stick by it you'll end up saving thousands of dollars in interest if you manage to pay it faster than the repayment time these savings can be added up to your account or used in some investment with great returns essentially creating more financial freedom so what's the best way to pay off loans faster there are a couple ways to do this you can start by categorizing each loan based on the interest rate and pay off those with the highest first there's also the snowball method which takes into account human behavior this requires you to pay off the smaller loans first which will then give you the momentum and Psyche to tackle the others number five retirement fund to attain financial freedom you have to make short-term sacrifices for the long-term game one of the greatest sacrifices is having a retirement fund having a 401k is one of those things you know you really need but haven't paid that much attention to and if you already have one you aren't contributing the maximum you can having this fund is crucial for security in the future by saving a little each month you're guaranteeing yourself a dignified retirement and who wouldn't want that also if you manage to store up enough you can achieve early retirement comfortably stop wasting time and take the steps today number 6 start investing today this is the only way your money can multiply once you've created a structure of managing your income and the above steps go ahead and create an investing plan compound interest will grow your money exponentially over time however please note that you will need to be patient as results will only be seen over long periods of time so where do you start don't try to be a stock picker or think you're the next Warren Buffett instead open an online brokerage account which allows one to learn how to invest and create a portfolio after doing your research you can create weekly or monthly deposits to this account number seven create automated savings one of the wisest things you could ever do for your finances is to set up automated withdrawals once you have an outlined budget loan payment structure savings model retirement fund monthly contributions then you can activate automated deductions monthly the money should be pulled out the same day your paycheck comes in so you can avoid temptation completely have you ever been in a situation where you just don't know what happened to your money you received your paycheck but right after a couple of days your account is empty and you're clueless to where it went then maybe it's about time you created automated deductions talk to your bank and find out how you can connect these automated debt payments today number eight watch your credit score the credit score is the determinant of so many things it determines the rate at which you will receive a loan for your car or when refinancing your home and so much more what most people don't take into account is that it determines other seemingly unrelated things such as life insurance premiums and car insurance most institutions reason that someone with a low credit score is likely to be reckless in other aspects in life such as drinking and driving you can potentially lose a lot of money in the long run for having a bad credit score therefore keep an eye on your credit report regularly to ensure there are no black marks that could tarnish your good name number 9 continuous learning knowledge is the key to becoming financially free regularly review all changes in the tax regulations to ensure all deductions and adjustments are maximized stay up to date with financial news to identify any developments within the stock markets and be quick in adjusting your portfolio accordingly other than being financially literate also take time to improve your knowledge within your career if taking that extra course will increase your chances of getting a better paying job go for it you'll also be in a better place to retain your job when the company is doing retrenchments today there are hundreds of certified online courses that will train you for a small fee while some are completely free number 10 maintenance take good care of everything you want this includes your car home lawn mowers and even clothes the longer they last the less you need to repair or replace them you will end up saving hundreds of dollars yearly on unnecessary maintenance costs if it's your car take it out for regular servicing and use your gadgets responsibly this also applies to your body take good care of your health eat well and exercise to avoid time and money wasted in hospitals also your general health also determines your insurance premiums being obese and having a red - multiple ailments can cause your insurance cost to skyrocket also avoid habits that would put your health at jeopardy this includes habits like alcoholism smoking and abuse of any illegal substance some companies have instilled restrictions on the allowed number of sick days anyone who exceeds the limit incurs a notable deduction in their paycheck you have no choice but to take better care of yourself and your thanks don't expose yourself to health dangers as the price will be a hefty drawback in your journey to financial freedom while this won't automatically guarantee you'll achieve your financial goals it will help you develop habits that will get you on the right path I know we said we'd give you ten steps but it doesn't hurt to learn one more right number eleven hire a financial advisor once you've followed all the above steps and practice them for a substantial amount of time you'll have amassed a decent amount of money the money might be there but you don't know what to do with it this can lead to impulse purchases and misuse of funds that could easily take you back to where you started the next step to take when you have chunks of money that you don't know what to do with is to get an expert to educate you and help you through the decision making process not just any expert choose one with experience and a reputable image you don't want to create Testing How the Army Creates Heat With Water

one of the things have to do is to prop it up it says rock or something very specific instructions today we're going to see what happens if we intentionally misuse some MRE heaters [Music] [Applause] guys this is an MRE heater MREs are meals ready to eat its military or field rations and sometimes you want them warm and this is what you use to get it there to bring in an expert on this subject we have my friend Tyler who is in the military so Tyler tell us real quick what is an MRE and why do we want heaters for them an MRE is a meal ready to eat basically it is the modern field ration for the modern warfighter in like the Civil War and World War two you had to carry around cans of food which were quite heavy so the intent behind this was for it to be lightweight provide more calories for consumption as well as a warm meal for comforts sake here's the basic idea military meals are heated up by a small chemical reaction in a bag we want to try and take those bags open them up see what's inside and see what happens if we intentionally use them wrong so these were developed as a easy and generally safe way to heat the meals up I read some of the specifications for like what they have to be and it's like it has to be able to heat up a meal to a hundred degrees Fahrenheit within 10 minutes and to not pose a significant risk of fire or something like that and so this is the method if you've ever used those little hand warmers where you just open them it's full of iron powder which reacts with air turning into iron oxide exothermic reaction heats up it's very similar to that but it uses water instead of air and inside these little packets there is a combination of iron magnesium and salt those all combine and have a very similar exothermic reaction to those hand warmers it's just a little bit faster and a little bit hotter I think to start we're gonna look at the proper use of one of these heaters like eating at this meal yeah and then we'll go to the improper use which is gonna be a lot more fun well here we go here we got water it shows it's got lines at the bottom so you're just supposed to fill it up to these lines with water and then I think it just kind of squishes and all the water gets all over it so yeah you split to your meal next to the heater and then dump some water in it so normally I wouldn't even look at the line I would just add a certain amount of water from my canteen or water source I'd say I usually start with that I usually kind of squish the water around that might even be too much and then all try and seal it so it forces itself to be unsealed and then you set it on a rock or something so I'm just gonna add some water to this one and I'm not gonna add an MRE it's just gonna be I actually think I added too much water so yours will probably be a quicker demonstration so as the water starts reacting and it starts putting off heat it's not just putting off heat it's also creating hydrogen that's gonna take probably another few seconds to a minute before it actually starts doing anything but then it's going to balloon up quite a bit probably this is showing the cardboards at about a hundred Fahrenheit so definitely some heat this thing is showing up at 150 for a second Wow so we've now got steam is escaping out and around the bottom here but I'm curious honestly is this just steam or hydrogen said I believe this is actually hydrogen in the bag hydrogen generation oh cool staying burned now it's burning plastic I mean it was burning hydrogen too but the plastic actually caught on fire so usually what you do well it's heating is you eat all your other snacks and treats most of the food's gonna be fairly dry especially these vegetable crackers crackers fill the full cheese and stuff like that would you like some jalapeno cheese spread with your vegetable graphic that looks like it may not still be good like it's probably safe it's just doesn't look good so the jalapeno cheese spread might be one of the first things to expire taste just about as good as it normally does so we've got some napkins guys a towelette salt gum crushed red pepper so let's go with the main meal and at this point I would have finished all my snacks and I would now for that oh my goodness have a warm meal so for the main meal from got Mexican style chicken stew I just want to say I know that crazy Russian hacker has probably tested all these before but I haven't so Wow delicious meatballs I actually have too much flavoring and not enough water here that's supposed to be with 20 ounces of water this is only a 16.9 so probably gonna be a little too concentrated I've had worse chickens - right yeah it's just kind of like a chicken chili kind of stuff it's spicy [Music] I was kind of testing very carefully to see if it was gonna be too spicy no that's like as you said perfect perfect limit perfect heat alright so we're gonna be testing out the so called Tabasco bomb that is the source of pranks military on military soldier on soldier just in case it's actually intense and we don't want to subject ourselves to it we're gonna be doing it in this pot but then to scale it up because apparently we need to scale it down and scale it up we're gonna do several at once so we're just gonna have some saran wrap cling film over the lid of this pot and then we're gonna throw like three or four of them in here and see what they do and then maybe carefully open it and see if it's pepper spraying ourselves [Music] so while that's heating up and preparing to teargas us all what I wanted to try was to take all of the powder out of one of these measure out the appropriate amount of water and then mix it in and see what the reaction does if it's not in the containers okay yeah some of these do look like they're maybe on the verge of popping themselves open a little bit I'm curious how potent all right so I've measured out what should be about the right amount of water this is just all of the powder from one of those I'm gonna try and pour this into the middle to me honestly this seems like way too much water what is the chemicals here magnesium iron and salt okay so don't do this [Music] gently gently salty chemical paste but I am gonna go rinse up out of my mouth 54 compared to the rock that doesn't have that 48 oh I just hit 80 84 b5 maybe we did it wrong maybe but never be a victim or the perpetrator you never learned I took an entire bottle we could also just yeah drench one in Tabasco it's actually activating from the Tibet a little bit water activating it with Tabasco that's good I think we're I think we're probably there yeah you're right yep a little more intense now okay it doesn't mean my eyes I breathe in yeah and you just move off immediately is your Sinus I can open the door it's not like horrible you know you do you experience like being tear gassed right right so hold on oh we're near that level yeah so a lot of military branches at least I know for sure my experience in the Army is at basic training you go through the gas chamber [Music] yeah that's magnesium fire right there partly yeah also some other stuff there we go grape drink isn't that fun we've got four of the heating pads in one bag we're just gonna seal it then we're gonna cut a corner off of it and then we're going to add water into it and just see if we have one spout where all the steam and hydrogen comes out if we can make a good sort of mini flamethrower and away we go Oh [Applause] oh that is hot just it refills itself very quickly with more all right there you go I think it's starting to sew a little bit there we go ow okay nearly 200 not bad oh it's just burned along the edge yeah I think it's escaping now all right guys MRE heaters thanks to our friend Tyler for stopping by and sharing how they're normally used and joining in the fun of misusing them this whole idea was brought to you by reddit user muffin the bear so Thank You muffin and if there's anything else you would like to see us try with these MRE heaters please let us know and maybe we'll give it a try [Music] comment or when you eat apple pie yes or no what's the bestest I know what they're heard that no because it's nonsense guys that's it for today but you know we've always got more for to see hit that box up at the top to check out our most recent video and we'll see you the next one doctor then

How the Rich Hide Their Money and Pay No Tax

would you believe me if I told you that Warren Buffett pays less tax than his secretary you may wonder how a billionaire pays fewer taxes than an average income earning secretary and the answer is that there are two kinds of taxpayers those who accept taxes as a natural part of life and pay whatever the government tells them to and there were others who do everything in their power to avoid paying taxes let's give each of these types of people a name we will call the willful taxpayer Paul and the tax avoider Jack - Paul when the government comes knocking at the end of the year he doesn't see it as a big deal earning $40,000 a year Paul hands over his $15,000 worth of income taxes and moves on about his life sure he would love to keep more of the $15,000 but he sees paying taxes as a normal part of life jack on the other hand is a medium-sized business owner who draws himself a salary from the tech company he owns and built from scratch jack has over 50 employees working for him and has seen his business grow year-over-year unlike Paul Jack despises tax he thinks to himself how can the government who played no part in making his business's success take such a huge chunk of his money for nothing to make matters worse being taxed personally and by being a business owner jack is subject to just about every tax imaginable such as personal income tax sales tax excise tax property tax and investment tax with all these potential taxes being applied to his income Jack decided to look into how big corporations avoid paying taxes after hearing that in 2018 Amazon paid zero income tax even though they earned over two hundred billion dollars in revenues that year determined to avoid losing a sizeable chunk of his earnings to tax Jack looked into ways he could cut down on the amount of corporate tax his business pays and reduce his own personal tax bill in his hunt for tax strategies Jack came across the following techniques method number one riding off expenses given that most rich individuals earn their fortunes through a business this gives them the opportunity to write off expenses and their taxable income you see most expenses you occur in your day-to-day business operations can be written off against your income to lower your taxes payable for example let's say you run a digital marketing agency and are in $200,000 a year in revenues if you had no expenses then the whole $200,000 would be subject to tax however as most businesses incur expenses these costs will reduce what amount of profits will be subject to tax for instance if you have $100,000 worth of legitimate business expenses a year then this would make your annual profit $100,000 instead of the $200,000 you earned in revenue which would cut your taxes paid on your earnings by more than half eligible expenses can include things like business meals office supplies new laptops internet connections etc employee benefits staff training rent and leases car expenses etc as the owner of the business if you decide to take a trip for a conference to develop your skills in digital marketing you can decide to write that off as well again this method of reducing your taxes is only enjoyed by people who own businesses leaving little wonder as to why most people who own businesses seem to be considerably richer than people who work as employees method number two diverting income as of 2017 the United States corporate income tax rate was reduced from thirty five percent to twenty one percent and while this offered many companies Amazon included the opportunity to significantly reduce their income tax payable many companies still elect to recognize their income in countries with even lower tax rates for instance the Cayman Islands has no income tax no corporate tax no estate or inheritance tax and no gift tax or capital gains tax making it a pure tax haven in short whatever you earn you keep of course without any calculations it is obvious that this is the significant savings to any business who can realize their income overseas but just how much would this save you if you had set up a tax haven in this country let's say your business earned five million dollars last year instead of paying an income tax of thirty five percent for 1,750,000 dollars you would instead pay nothing and keep that almost two million dollars for yourself besides allowing you to realize income tax free the Kane have very strict banking laws designed to protect banking privacy the country does not have any tax treaties with other nations thus guarding the finances of its offshore banking clients from the tax authorities of other countries moreover offshore corporations in the Caymans are not required to submit financial reports to any Caymans government authority an incorporation in the Caymans is a very simple streamlined process with all these benefits it's no wonder companies are flocking to these remote destinations to hide their earnings method number three netting revenues against losses if you've ever looked at the stats in favor of starting a business then you will know just how bleak they can be the numbers show that 20% of small businesses fail in their first year 30% of small businesses fail in their second year and 50% of small businesses fail after five years in business finally 70% of small business owners fail in their tenth year in business with the chance of success in business being rather low there are still numerous companies that succeed and make a fortune for which they need to protect and one of the ways they do this is through the use of loss carryforwards you see most businesses require a few years in operation before they start turning a profit and in the years where business is not exactly booming losses are bound to be incurred these losses while unfortunate at the time are excellent tax avoidance tools for future periods you see like expenses loss carryforwards can be netted against your earnings to reduce your overall taxes payable meaning that less of your income is subject to tax method number for issuing stock options another way businesses reduce their taxes is by issuing stock options to its stake holders this method is particularly convenient for businesses for two reasons number one it is booked is an expense which will reduce profits and ultimately the amount of money that is subject to tax and number two it does not result in a cash outflow for the business you see when stocks are issued they are booked as an expense for accounting purposes but no cash changes hands this means that the company can reduce its profits through the expense and maintain a strong cash position moreover companies that use this strategy gain the benefits realized by incentivizing their shareholders to further increase the stock price if you own stock in the company you worked for wouldn't you put an extra effort in order to make the company's stock value rise so that you could cash out your options for more money with these four corporate tax strategies in mind jack is starting to feel more confident that he can reduce or eliminate his corporate tax bill but he knows that he needs to withdraw some income from his business in order to live and once that cash to be minimally taxed so he decides to switch gears and look into ways he can reduce his personal tax owing method number five leveraging geographical tax laws for the past 20 years jack has grown his business in the heart of Silicon Valley however his patience with living in the state with the highest income tax rate in the United States has finally reached a tipping point with the state income tax rate of 13.3% for the highest income earners Jack is seeing a large chunk of his income being handed over to his state government with even more being passed along at the federal level while federal taxes can't be avoided Jack wonders what he can do to avoid some of the other taxes he is being subject to that are eroding his personal wealth Jack began researching other states with lower income tax rates and was surprised to see that 7 states were income tax free such as Texas Nevada and Florida meaning that he could save the 13.3% tax he was currently paying and still enjoy the warmth of the Sun all year long as Jack began looking into housing options in each of these three states he wondered if there were other ways he could further reduce his personal tax bill method number 6 investing in real estate part of the reason the rich continue to get richer is that they make their money work for them and one of the ways they do this is through real estate you see not only does owning real estate increase your wealth by generating income but it also allows for the reduction in taxes payable when you buy a property you are requiring a depreciable asset and because the asset reduces in value over time from an accounting perspective you are able to deduct depreciation and reduce the amount of income that is subject to tax common deductible expenses include repairs to the property and mortgage interest and the more money you spend on expenses the more you can reduce your tax selling however once a property is fully depreciated what do you do you sell that property and buy a new one while selling property usually triggers tax there is such a thing as a 1031 exchange which allows you to defer the tax you paid on selling the property if you buy a new property within 60 days of sale in essence you can continue to depreciate your properties and then sell them in perpetuity and never pay the tax while still being able to use the assets to generate rental income method number seven deferring income while Jack has looked into moving states and using real estate to reduce his taxable income he still feels as though some of his income will need to be sheltered for tax and another way he can do this is by deferring his income the most common tax deferral vehicle is an individual retirement account or an IRA which allows you to move your income into a fund and subject your earnings to tax at a later date if you're an employee you probably use this type of account to hold your savings and allow them to grow over time however they also double as a solid tax avoidance strategy you see income earned from employment is subject to tax unless that is you contribute the funds to your IRA account in the year you contribute money into your IRA you will receive a deduction from your taxable income or the amount you contributed this strategy is particularly effective for high-income earners because it reduces their tax bill during their highest earning years for instance if you earn five hundred thousand dollars a year and are in the highest tax bracket your income is probably being subjected to tax of up to 40% but what if you could avoid the 40% tax and instead have part of your income only be taxed to 20% well you can do just that using an IRA you see when you contribute to your IRA you do not pay any tax in the year you contribute and instead pay tax when you withdraw all the funds which is typically during retirement however during retirement you'll probably be earning much less than $500,000 meaning that the money you withdraw will be taxed at a lower rate and the difference in tax rates is how much you would have saved by using this income deferral technique with all these tax avoidance techniques in your financial toolbox you only have one question left to answer which type of tax payer will you be from here on out a Paul or a jack thanks for watching
